Artisan Center

On May 8th, 2003 the City of Moundsville received the deed to the 7 acre Fostoria Glass Factory. The deed signing was a milestone in a long process by the City of Moundsville to obtain a clean deed to the property.

Shortly after obtaining the deed to the property, the City of Moundsville, through a steering committee inked an agreement with Harold Games of Continental Design Inc. to develop the property. Mr. Games originated the idea of an artisan center. “The thought of an artisan center came to mind one day,” Games said.  “It will not only provide income for the crafters, but will help the economy of the city through monies generated by the crafters, but should be a tourist attraction.”  (the Intelligencer, October 11, 2005)

Games has chosen a building on the site which was constructed in 1926. Games said the building will become the artisans’ center, where local crafters will be able to make and display items. He said the building, including 25,000 square feet of space, is structurally sound.  Games, a Moundsville native, said he plans to donate the artisan center to the city.    (the Intelligencer, October 11, 2005)
