Fire Prevention

Fire Departments are maintained by municipalities for the purpose of providing the citizens with protection against loss of life and property due to fire. For many years, extinguishing fires was considered the primary purpose of the fire department. The Moundsville Fire Department realizes that its full measure of service to the citizens requires as much attention to preventing fires as to putting them out.

The Bureau of Fire Prevention is comprised of the Chief of the Department and two inspectors who are responsible for maintaining a year round inspection and preplanning program. This inspection and preplanning program includes, but may not be limited to, any and all places of business and public interest.

The Moundsville Fire Department is very active in the community when it comes to fire prevention and safety activities. The fire department's personnel are trained to deliver a wide variety of fire prevention and safety topics and are available upon request year round. The Moundsville Fire Department has delivered fire safety and prevention programs to all types of civic, school and business organizations spanning all types of age groups.

The fire department is able to utilize the Fire Safety House from the Marshall County Firefighters Association. The Fire Safety House provides an excellent learning environment for children of all ages. All requests to use the Fire Safety House should be made far enough in advance of the proposed date to ensure its availability.

The Moundsville Fire Department will come to your place of business or where your group meets, or you are more than welcome to come to our station for a fire prevention and safety education.
