City Manager Allen Hendershot

Welcome to the Office of the City Manager. The Manager’s office is staffed by the City Manager and an Executive Secretary. All Department Heads report directly to the City Manager and the City Manager reports directly to City Council. The City Manager’s Office is located in the City Building at 800 Sixth Street, on the corner of Sixth Street and Morton Avenue. Regular business hours are weekdays 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The City Manager’s office staff provides staff support for several City initiatives and can provide general information and direct you to the appropriate department as needed.


City Manager's Greeting

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the City of Moundsville and invite you to tour our city. The City of Moundsville,West Virginia is a quaint city of approximately 10, 000 residents. The city is located on the banks of the Ohio River, just twelve (12) miles south of the City of Wheeling. This is a fifteen (15) minute drive south on WV Route 2 from Interstate 70. The city is the home of the Grave Creek Mound and Museum; the retired West Virginia State Penitentiary, which has been converted into a tourist attraction and state of the are training facility, the National Corrections and LawEnforcement Training and Technology Center (NCLETTC); and was best known for the Fostoria Glass Plant which produced world renowned lead crystal in the city for nearly 100 years. The Fostoria Glass Museum and the Marx’s Toy Museum are also located here.

The city government provides a full range of services to it’s citizens through it’s Police and Fire Departments,Street Department,SanitationDepartment, Recreation Department, Water Board and award winning Sanitary Board.
