Sanford Community Center

The Sanford Feasibility Committee, appointed by Moundsville Mayor David Wood, is considering the acquisition of the former Sanford Elementary School Building to establish a self-sufficient, community-based center to provide resources and educational opportunities for all ages.

Here are some key points about the committee's vision:

  • The center would NOT be a youth drop-in center. The community learning/resouce center would serve all ages and house social service agencies and community groups that would provide structured programs.

  • Ideas for the center include after-school programs for youth, classes and programs for adults and seniors, and have community resources and services in a central location.

  • The center would not be supported by the City of Moundsville nor the Marshall County Board of Education. It would be self-sufficient through rent, fees, grant funds and fund raising.
